Shit Stirring to Shit Stir

As most of you know, there is a thread in Meta discussing how our group is run.

1) It doesn't matter, we don't need to care if people like the way our group is run or not.

Shit Stirring to Shit Stir trouble for this group using the Help and Meta Forum

2) May have consequences

What happened last time, will not happen again here, no matter how hard some will try

3) Just resolve yourself to that fact

To respond or not

4) Totally up to you. No one likes being pushed around. Sometimes silence makes it stop, sometimes it doesn't. Do what you want.

No personal issues are to be brought in here, it is not healthy for the group. We need to keep it our safe haven.

because I've been working late into the night for the last week and getting up late, and today is a public holiday in Canada so I avoided the keyboard until just now. So I suppose I should go look. Yech.

But off the top of my head and just at a guess: I would say "lying to lie".

Lies and liars and lying. It's what political discourse in the US consists of: the most foul lies told by one side that the other side has to spend its time dealing with. And along with guns, it crosses my border and pollutes my country's political discourse and it makes me puke. Only in the last very few years have lies about adversaries become standard operating procedure in Canada, and without the noise coming from south of the border it would simply never have been possible here.

Google "Taliban Jack" for a quick idea of what I mean. It's the Canadian politics version of "Dworkinite".

There's no difference between this place and any other free-for-all on the internet. Harassment, intimidation, lies. And who are the targets? Duh.

A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is tying its shoelaces.

And lies can be told at Democratic Underground and get standing ovations from people wilfully stamping the truth into submission.

I keep up with what is going on (albeit im somewhat confused by some of it, and annoyed by other parts).
But some of the terminology and insults (perceived or intentional [if you recall the "clutch the pearls" discussion, another instance where I had never heard of the term]) I have never heard of.

7. We've worked too hard to make this group work for *feminists* to let it be damaged

by non-feminists.

I'm feeling happy and optimistic about the future.

and many other people do too. Simply take a look at the number of posts in our forum in the last 30 days - 1620 and compare that with the old group which had 173 posts in the last 30 days. Nearly 10 to 1.
