The difference in sentencing. Even after enduring years of abuse and near fatal beatings the wife (or even kids) get far harsher sentences. Even in self defence, being afraid they will kill you this time, women are punished more severely. It's terrible.

Suggesting that the data is 25-50 years old - or more.

Whilst I have little doubt that the disparity continues, one wonders how much this has changed since then, and I hope that the system has moved in the direction of justice.

Anything more recent from a peer-reviewed journal to get an idea of where things currently stand, and what the trends are?
