but since you are so new, I doubt you'd get much support here.

Do you feel it would be appropriate?

We all appreciate the effort that you are making to improve your current financial situation and also provide moral support. The administrators on DU show a significant amount of leeway regarding the crowd-funding links.

It is okay to post links, but people who have recently arrived on DU may not receive positive responses from some members. DU occasionally receives requests from people who ask for assistance through GoFundMe and similar fund raising sites. However, I am aware of one instance when a professional spammer was asking for contributions and in that instance she was removed by the Malicious Intruder Response Team, so if you do post such a thread it may not be well received within the DU community.

The responses tend to be more positive if they come from a long time member, they are from members asking to help somebody else that they know and the requests do not appear frequently like clockwork. We realize that on occasions people do need help, but when the requests appear on a regular basis it creates divisiveness throughout the DU community. Members are warned to evaluate the requests carefully before making any contributions.

I wish you the best of luck getting things straightened out with your educational expenses, but please consider that if you ask for help you might not like the response that you will receive and it could endanger your reputation since you are a new member.
