As proof of that? I'm even afraid to post this message in response to your question.

I'd say there's about a 95% chance that this very post, where I'm giving an honest answer, will result in either an unfriendly response ("Don't let the door hit you on the way out--we don't need your kind anyway!&quot or a trial-by-jury or both.

are and enough different forums/groups to make it worthwhile here. I've gotten frustrated with nasty tone and taken a break, coming back to view LBN's gathering of news and some of the smaller groups/forums.

It gets weird here at times and around now in the election cycle is one of those times. I wish it wasn't, but it does happen at times. My advice is to take a break, or chose what to reply to carefully, or seek out the smaller forums found under Forums and Groups tab at the top of the page.

deactivate it. I have looked at their rules & do not see where that was told to you when you signed up.

Just asking for now, but may pursue further when can get enough info.

Thanks if you can assist.

In general I think you'd have to self-delete everything, then change your password to a scramble, and log out. That's about the only option.

And at this particular time in history (and for good reason) people are on edge. This in addition to the usual knee-jerk reaction to postings not fully read. I think a lot of trolls signed up to try and create chaos. Now that they are creating chaos in the government, they don't need us anymore.

There are a number of things that I think are good about DU. One, if something happens, it's out there quickly. Not always well-described, but out there. And then there's the times you wake up at 2 in the morning with a burning question and somebody answers in 10 minutes.

Sometimes you need a thick skin and other times it's lovy-dovy-warm and fuzzy.

People are, as you say, "on edge." Drumpf is horrifying and our horror comes in various flavors and provokes different responses. Mine tend toward sarcasm and profanity.

I've taken breaks from DU, sometimes it is not particularly nice here in the big forums. Lbn works and some of the smaller forums are good. It's too easy to spend lots of time and energy here. Best of luck.

It requires you to run around insulting people (and nowadays, the insults have to be pretty egregious, owing to the partisanship of the primary season), get a bunch of hides, and then have the admins tombstone you.

It wasn't like this when I joined. This place was home. Unfortunately it went off the rails somehow.

I understand how disappointing that is. I used to believe we were better than "conservatives." Now I don't know. It seems to me we could coalesce around Democrats but that doesn't seem possible at this place. Why? I really don't know. Apparently I became a "third way" or a "corporatist" somewhere along the way. I often wonder how that happened. What did I do? Why on earth did I do that?

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion says, “Because if I do, I will die too.”

The frog is satisfied, and they set out. But in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp “Why?”

Replies the scorpion: “It’s my nature…”

If you see someone that goads/baits you and you can't just pass them by, you can ignore them mechanically. They disappear from your universe and the air is clearer!

I think the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference, as a famous fellow once said.

There are enough "fun" corners in this site to find a good conversation or two!

post offensive right wing garbage. Sprinkle it with hate speech.
