A humble greeting from a new member o/

Hello, Fellow Dems o/

Having lurked for months, I have felt an increasingly strong compulsion to join the Democratic Underground. It is deserving by virtue on having become my go-to site for anti-republican/anti-Trump sentiment.

I am a 50-something white male who despises the GOP with a passion. And now that they have chosen Donald Trump to lead their party, my disdain for republicans has grown tenfold. Imo, the republican party has done more to damage America than all of the international terrorist groups combined. But I digress. . .

I have voted democrat all my life. While my support in the past has been somewhat tepid, Donald Trump and today's GOP has made an enthusiastic supporter of me. Kudos as well to the DNC for adopting the most progressive democratic platform in history.

So, long story short, I'm with Her.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the company and opinions of my fellow progressives. Thank you all for being here (and thank you DU for giving us such a comfortable place to kick back and hang out

I'm guessing from your avatar that you're from CA! And as you might guess from my username, so am I.

I hope you'll be happy here. It can be a real community, one where you have good friends and great conversations.

Hi,

Trying to get my "street" cred up so I can post an introduction. I'm here for similar reasons seeking a go to site for less hyperbole and more substance on finding real facts in support of our democratic party and Hillary.

this username (recovering_democrat) was mine for multiple years prior to a tremendous upheaval in my personal life, resulting in move from life-long residence in Georgia to Sarasota FL in about 2011-2012. Only temporary for a while, now fully settled here and a Florida voter for this time.

My problem? first, i found that unlike Georgia, I cannot vote in primaries unless I register as a republican or democrat. Not knowing the people, I registered as an independent. Will change that as soon as possible but I need the help of DU to find the information I need to know what is going on in this state. No issue with Democrat support at national level, including getting rid of one of the seat warmers in the House who is my current congress-critter (Buchanan). I haven't heard much and mainly silence from most of the other local and county Dems. Including few choices in critical local races with current level of "unopposed". BTW, I don't vote for unopposed candidates usually unless they are Dems.

to start: Governor is AWFUL, Senator Rubio (tried to challenge Trump, turned out to be as chicken as the others in that party). In my county, the most races are unopposed Republicans, with a few Democratic candidates but I know nothing about them.

Like the person who started this post (I can't start one yet), I will become more and more active as I learn from the rest of the wonderful people on this site. Thank you for existing. Good to hear what you have to say, RexCasual.
