Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new here as well and new to discussion forums such as this. I'm looking forward to meeting others and hopefully getting involved in some lively, informative discussions.

take it rather slowly here. DU has been around since the day George W. Bush was inaugurated, and it looks like any number of people here have also been around that long. I'm learning that there's a definite culture to the different forums (I've already run afoul of one of them, alas) and so a lot of lurking and minimal posting is probably a good idea.

And maybe reading a bunch of old threads just to find out what's normative here.
