has anyone here had their bank account hacked?

Mine was just recently. All of a sudden I was $20,000 down. I am going to my bank tomorrow to find out what happened. I never let my bank card out of site and anyway, I never shared my password to get into my bank account.

I've been advised to report it to my bank and have them investigate it. It would seem like an in house embezzler but I am told that the bank has to make me whole so I am relieved about that.

which is why I keep two separate accounts at two separate banks, one for online purchases and other activity and one to hide the boodle in.

So far, so good.

But yes, either someone got lucky with your password or it was in house. One is as likely as the other.

and fake deposit some money and then take it out immediately. Using mt account. Fraud. I never lost my card. The bank didn't believe me so I called head office and made them pull the video tapes of that bank machine. I was doing online banking at the time. I have no idea what happened. Any ideas would be welcome. I no longer do online banking. And yes i had been to a gas station and used my card there but that doesn't explain why they knew what bank machine i frequently used miles away.

Someone got my bank card number and billed it to a hospital.

Called the bank, went through the process. Took a week or two, but I got the money back.

Be sure to use two factor authentication if your bank has that. I wish they would offer that for use with debit cards, it would be a PITA, but I think it would seriously cut down the card fraud.

I don't know who or how, but I think it may have happened when I was out of town. Thankfully the credit union I belong to was able to recover everything in full and then some, but still if it can happen to me it can happen to anybody.

I had forgotten that I had TWO accounts and one held the lesser amount and when I made my deposit the teller put the deposit in the account with the lesser amount and when I got the deposit slip I freaked out.
