Is Anyone Else Having Trouble Seeing Avatars?

Go to "My Account" and check to see that you have the display box checked.

and there was nothing there.

All right. It's Firefox. I just looked at one of my recent posts using IE and Chrome and it showed up.

Hhmmm... it worked so well for years but it's been doing goofy things lately.

I have not had a problem..... until a few minutes ago. I think this is a question for Skinner.

I did start my own thread, and apparently others CAN see my avatar,

(I also posted in the "Ask The Administrators" section)

Are you still unable to see yours?

I am a female.

I guess the avatar is male because of my name.

Sam is my nickname.

and then it will show you categories of different types of avatars
Click on a category, then click on the avatar you want, and that should give you an avatar.
(That "shadow" has nothing to do with being a male or female)

Or, you can upload your own avatar in the "My Profile" section

So, I logged out of DU. I closed my browser (Firefox). I logged back in. I tried to select an avatar, but nothing happens after I select it. I tried various avatars and nothing happens.

Can you see it.

I can't.

I logged out and could see my avatar when I was logged out. When I logged back in, I couldn't see it!!

Bernie never showed up.

There was just a box with some kind of symbol in it.

I didn't like that.

I tried to change it back to the shadow and that didn't work.

I tried War Is A Racket and it did show up.

I think I will leave it for now since I agree with the quote from Smedley Butler.

I went to My Profile to get my avatar back. I selected a bunch of them and zip...nada. So I logged out. Closed Firefox. Logged back in. Avatar still gone. Selected an avatar again and zip...nada

I select one from categories, but nothing happens. Really looks like a software problem to me.

I'll just answer them all at once.

I can see everyone's avatar except my own, but that's okay. Earlier there was nothing but blank space where my avatar should be, now there is the symbol showing that the image can't be found (a white square with a broken image in it). No shadow of a man anywhere.

Per sheshe2, I double checked My Account: all good.

Thanks to red dog 1 for starting the thread in Ask the Administrators. I was going to do that next after finding if there was a universal problem or just me.

Thanks to everyone for checking and I'm sorry that many people are experiencing the same problem. Still, there is solace in not being alone in this.


Edited to add: now I don't have anything but blank white where my avatar should be. It doesn't make any difference, just an item of note.

It would be nice to be able to see posts in Ask the Admins before they are resolved. In a case like this, they could very well get a bunch of threads about the same thing because nobody can tell if a problem has been reported yet or not.
