When I decided to cancel I had the same problem. So I made the request in ATA forum. They took care of it right away.

I'm hoping against hope that there is still a place for me here. But, if not, I wanted to be ready to move on. The sad thing is if I have to go back to ATA, it's going to seem spiteful, when I'm not spiteful, but rather I'm unsure if my politics mesh with the politics here anymore (no, I am not a tRump supporter, far from it).

However, this will be the way I do it if need be.

Thank you for your help.

Not sure what method you're using, but you might be able to cancel it through whatever service is sending them the money.

If I do decide to leave, I want it to be clean, whereas just having the card decline it leaves it in a state where the administrators have to spend extra time trying to figure out if it was a glitch or an expired card. I want them to know that it was on purpose, not to rub their noses in it but just to make it clean, because I have been a member for 15 years and I have met two of the administrators. They are good people.

In other words, I want this to be honest and straightforward if it has to come to that. I'm still hoping I get a reasonable answer. This is the first time in 15 years that I have come across an issue that may require that I leave.

It's probably a bit more automated than you might think, but I get your intent.
FWIW, it's sorta why I tend to avoid "automatic" anything renewals. Makes breaking up a bit more intentional and explicit.

That is what this feels like. It's the day before the discussion where you decide that we've just gone down different paths and it's time to make that official.

Bleah.
