I keep having to sign in. I'm a star member
and can’t think of how this has changed. I’ve never had to keep signing whenever I go to another website. Yes I check the remain logged in box. I’ve checked my settings and can’t find a way to correct this!

1. I do too, but figure it's my settings on my computer
I just generally keep my DU window open, because I pop in and out throughout my day. (Yes, I'm on here - mostly reading - way more than I really should be.

2. Likely a browser or security setting... If your browser is set to "clear cache" every time it closes
or the settings for cookies are set to the highest level (not allowing DU access) that could be an issue. Ditto if your internet security package has reset to a more extreme level of blocking cookies.
There are other reasons too, but you might start there. Here's an article on the issue from Firefox that might give you a start: https://www.labnol.org/software/stay-logged-in-with-firefox/8094/ |

4. the way that you "stay logged in" on websites like this....
...is due to your browser (the software you use to look at stuff on the web) being set to accept a small file from the site with a unique identifier. If you go away and come back, the site can check if that file is still there to say "yes, this is the person that was logged in before".
These types of files - cookies - can be used for a variety of purposes, not all of which are welcome. For that reason, browser software (chrome, safari, firefox, etc.) has settings that can be used to reject these files. On top of that, some anti-virus software or plugins, or ad-blocking software, can cause your system not to accept these types of files. So when you say "I've checked my settings", there's no way to know whether you mean your operating system's general security and privacy settings, the security and privacy settings of your browser, or the settings on some other type of software or plug-in that might be the source of the issue. If you are using, for example, "private browsing mode" in any of various browsers, then persistent login will not work. If you are using a browser which has a "forget history" mode, then persistent login will not work. If you are rejecting cookies for whatever reason, persistent login will not work. For a single browser, there can be multiple answers to the question of why persistent login is not working. Here are some answers for Firefox, for example: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1176200 |

6. I read on my phone and have to do a restart.
That always fixes it. Similarly, I believe that a restart on my computer also resets DU and fixes it.

9. Me too. It's really irritating when
I’m in the Middle responding to a post only to have to sign in as soon as I post it too.
