Never heard on an appeal?

Hello I had a post removed on July 27th because apparently it offended someone, and that was certainly not my intent. I appealed it and never heard anything. I contacted the administrators, who I know are busy, to ask about it and have still not heard anything. That was a couple weeks ago. I'm not really sure where to go with this from here, and I want to know why my post was found to be offensive. Any recommendations on what to do?

In my time here, I have only seen one DUer claim to have had a successful "appeal." So, take that for what it is worth.

If you post here long enough, you will have a post misunderstood, or you will encounter an individual who seems to have come to DU to cause some disruption/incite-- for whatever reason--and we have cycles where it seems some have "itchy" alert fingers. So, welcome to a very big club.

It will drop off in 90 days--that is just after the election, so something else to look forward to.

My post was from a late night comedy show. Inexplicably, someone didn't realize it was meant as a joke.

It's frustrating to not know why my post was offensive, particularly since I was reiterating something stated in the article. But one has to wonder, why have juries if you never hear the results?

And despite the fact that this may make me look like a serial offender, I also won a previous appeal. I guess that makes three 😁

Most of the time I don’t bother appealing, but it does happen.

I had a post removed a few years ago in response to an obvious troll. My post was was something like "bless your heart" written in Cyrillic (Russian text). Nothing else.

It got reported by someone and enough members agreed to delete it. I still do not know why.

I responded to moderators that I thought the decision was silly, but whatever. NBD.

I appealed two removed posts and got zero response or explanation. While less than happy about the lack of response, there appears to be nothing that can be done.

My appeal didn’t work even though I didn’t think it broke that rule. If anything, another rule, but even that was iffy. Yes, if no response it will stay but go off record after 90 days.

However, why encourage DUers to appeal if it's just going to be a waste of our time to do so? It's insulting to offer an appeal option if they're not going to honor it with a consideration of the submitted appeal.

It's like having a suggestion box at work that once you put your suggestion in the box it just goes right into the trash.
