Just my rant here. I love to read. I wish the videos would go away. The topic is getting flooded with you tube videos with no statements what so ever.

I don't even look at these posts anymore.

1. I just went in General Discussion to check

and currently only 5 of the 80 threads on the first page have a YouTube video in the OP.

If the problem is the number of videos on the Latest page, my recommendation is to try going to the Liberal YouTubers forum here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1322 and then hit the "Trash forum" button at the top -- see if that improves things for you.

7. I'm more annoyed by frequent posts w/ links to X/Twitter.

I feel the same way about all the twitter posts.. If I wanted twitter posts, I would be on twitter. I dont support fascism. Musk has done irreparable damage to our country.

5. Drive Bys

Just make a section where drive by video posts can be dumped. Any videos from any section without comment can be kicked to there, and we can hide the whole section if we want. Win-win.

10. The Trash option for forums...

Is located on the landing page of each forum. Left hand side, third option down on that side below the Mark As Read option.

Individual posts can also be sent to The Trash one by one but not wanting to see videos in general may be the impetus for trashing an entire forum or all of the video related forums. But that may take some time and research.

11. I usually, if I watch...

Speed everything up to 1.75 or even 2.0 then add transcription (which is usually not without its own issues) then just read enough to see if it might be worth my time to watch.

Time is, after all, our most valuable finite resource.

I rarely watch videos here. I'd rather read. YT is a $ for clicks racket, imo. YMMV
