Link challenged (Original Post) DionDem Aug 2012 OP
It worked just fine! Hahaha! You need to make an OP out of that! freshwest Aug 2012 #1
What is an OP? DionDem Aug 2012 #4
Yes, but you could put some of the content and then the link. Some people need a lead in. freshwest Aug 2012 #5
I gotcha DionDem Aug 2012 #6
Great, I'll go look for it there. Don't post OP's in more than 2 forums, as it may be called spam. freshwest Aug 2012 #7

You can link back to your OP in replies if it is on topic in other threads and not be considered as spamming the board. At least that's what I was told, anyway. Look forward to seeing more of your satire.

... for normal links you (usually) don't need any tag for it to work - just copy the full address into your post. Putting this text in a post...

[div style="margin-left:1em; color:#000066;"]http://www.democraticunderground.com/index.php
... should give you this link automatically...

[div style="margin-left:1em;"]http://www.democraticunderground.com/index.php
[div style="width:100%; height:0.3077em; border-bottom: 1px solid #bfbfbf;"]
If you wanted to link to that same page with the words Democratic Underground, you would use the [link] tag like this...

[div style="margin-left:1em; color:#000066;"][link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/index.php|Democratic Underground]
... which should result in this...

[div style="margin-left:1em;"]Democratic Underground
[div style="width:100%; height:0.3077em; border-bottom: 1px solid #bfbfbf;"]
There are three ways to insert the [link] tag into a post:

  1. Hit the link button, enter the web address in the popup, then type/copy the text to be linked, and hit the /link button.
  2. Type/copy the text to link into your post, select the text, hit the link button, and enter the web address in the popup.
  3. Type/copy the link tag code, web address, pipe character, and text to link into your post using the proper syntax without ever hitting the link button at all.

I'm a life long Democrat so I am happy to be here.

Been reading the conversations and even some of the arguments for a couple days. Really happy to find there are alot of people who care about the same issues as me.
