I've been a DU member since 2004 but kind of fly under the radar (except for the time I announced that I hoped a gigantic drought would engulf the South so they would have to come beg Michigan for water after the southern senators voted against loans for the domestic auto industry. The wrath that rained down made me deeply regret - and lock - my hasty and ill-thought post and I've been good since 
).
I live in Michigan where I am the GM of an NPR/Jazz public radio station. I mainly post in the Sports Group to remind others that University of Michigan and Detroit professional sports are unequalled anywhere but have been known to wander into GD and the Lounge on occasion. When I'm not watching my beloved sports teams or trying to manage thirteen jazz radio hosts (plus a few news guys) I am trying to keep up with my SO and his 14 year old twin daughters and 19 year old son. I also work diligently to keep the memory of a dear childhood friend alive; she was kidnapped from the side of an expressway 22 years ago and never seen again.
I have no advice except not to curse an entire area of the country just because their senators are jerks. It's just not a good idea.
