Related: About this forumI finally made it
Hello There
I finally made enough posts to get this on.
My name is Wolfman 24. I tend to call myself a moderate because I feel that calling myself an independent would be incorrect since I have particular political leanings. I do have some conservative opinions some of which are VERY conservative and I also have libertarian opinions as well as others.
I am a firm believer and student of the Constitution as written. Not only what it says but why which is what I think is essential for understanding what it says. I am also a student of American History mostly between 1750 and 1810. I also am pretty good with the Civil War era.
I am a hunter but do not support the NRA. I fish, hike and other outdoors stuff. I am a certified professional genealogist (retired) and a fanatical Green Bay Packer fan. The 24 of my user name is there because there use to be a Packer that had my name and this was his number. Yes I am a Cheese head.
I am also a trained wildlife biologist (animal behavior) and but for most of my professional career I was an environmental regulator for the feds and the state of Michigan.
I am a person of faith but am not religious nor do I align myself with any religious denomination. I believe that anyone who believes in God, a supreme being or something greater than themselves is ok.
When I am debating someone in a post I do not call them names or make assumptions as to who or what they are. I also do not insult them or use veiled insults. I treat them with respect as much as possible regardless of whether I agree with them or not. In presenting my position I stick to facts and provide supportive information or documentation for that position. I have been in too many "discussions" where the other person has simply repeated "the company line" or their own opinions of how or what without checking to see if what they said was even accurate. I simply ask that if you are going to discuss or debate something with me don't assume who or what I am and please don't present opinions as if they were facts. It is counterproductive and will accomplish nothing.
Ex. - the founding fathers never meant the 2nd amendment to refer to a well regulated militia.
(response - Then why did they allow this wording to be part of the Amendment?)
Ex. - No scholar, historian or lawyer who knows anything about the Constitution agrees that it has anything to do with a well regulated militia. And anyone who does is either a fool or doesn't know much about American History.
(response - I responded to this remark with a list of almost 20 names of Constitutional scholars, historians and lawyers within the last 10 years who agree that it does. I did not address the "fool" part but went on to use accurate historical information to support my position)
I realize that this post is not vanilla and if I offended anyone I apologize but I am sick and tired of the trashing that goes on. There is no need for it and I refuse to do it.
Thanks
Wolfman 24
