'ello, ev'rybody!
I'm 28, work in TV, and went to Columbia College Chicago as a Film/Video major and got to be in the crowd at Grant Park on election day 2008! My grandpa was a flight engineer at Bolling field during WWII, worked on FDR's plane, was part of FDR's honor guard, and even walked Fala a few times! But despite all that, half of his 10 kids went right wing NUTS in the 80s and 90s. I'm in Central Illinois now and... man do I miss Chicago. This county went purple in '08, but it's traditionally red... like the rest of down-state.
ANYWAY! I'm also a practicing Roman Catholic, and I was just recently kicked out of the youth group I've helped to run for over a decade because I went on a tirade against our Bishop after he started politicking for Romney from the pulpit. Since most of the kids from the youth group are my facebook friends, I've really gone all-out in my social network campaigning for Obama, if for no other reason than just to show the youth that you can be a good, moral Catholic as well as a Democrat (in fact, I personally think being a Republican in this day and age is absolutely morally indefensible).
My mom's been reading DU since the presidential usurpation of ought-double zero and she's been reading me threads from here that whole time (whether I liked it or not LOL)... and before THAT, it was Buzzflash. I've been an off-and-on reader here through college, and I finally joined election night of 08 out of sheer JOY! And I've just recently started to post more because, let's be frank here, I'm lonely. I need some chicken soup for my democratic soul, and I need a good amount of ammo for this campaign of mine to bring sanity back to my diocese!

If you're lonely and want to hang with good solid liberals, spend some time in the DU Lounge. We have a lot of fun.
