Spring's mud season. Not so nice. I don't live there anymore but visit if you can. The coasts and the mountains are worth the trip.

Turns out, that saying is busted. Although the Mythbusters got a little alarmed, the bulls didn't break a thing. So maybe you're alarming, but not actually harmful.
