DU Community Help
Related: About this forumIgnore.
I have seen a person's post that has "This DU member has placed you on Ignore" in their post. Is this just a joke on their part or do they actually have someone on ignore. Or am I on ignore. I am still ignore(ant) about a lot of things that go on around here.

(102,247 posts)(and I'm pretty sure I know you you mean), that is their silly (and somewhat irritating, IMHO) comment on the whole system, I suppose. But, no, it isn't an official message with respect to your being on "ignore"... You might be, you might not, but if the poster responds to your posts, then the latter applies.

(64,931 posts)Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"
His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.
Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

Blame it on me! It is a longstanding joke, here.

I let my brain do that

(1,388 posts)I am still forming my standards. Some postings are so cryptic so as to be not understandable. Some posts by some people are slanted one way one day and the other on the next day. And some are so alike to my thinking, but so different and intractable on one or two other thinkings, as to make me doubt. I am still learning. I will not use the ignore button. It keeps the thoughts of others unavailable to me or me to them, which makes this site unusable. So as I said, I am trying to do that, not using the ignore button. Just don't respond to the offenders.

and I'd prefer to see what the "offenders" say about me or my posts
caution though
there are those that will trash you behind your back by sending Private Messages (PM's) to responders/participants in your thread.
I got one of them
but I know who she is
yup
I know
Threads get killed, and some members don't respond to me anymore
I been here ten years
I know how to figure this stuff out.

(1,388 posts)It sure seems like a lot of childishness goes on. I think it is one of the problems with anonymity.

(6,151 posts)We're as well known for our enemies as for our friends. When it's said of someone, "He didn't have an enemy in the world," then it's either a lie or a mistake or the person never stood for anything.
When the rare person actually does place someone on ignore, it's likelier to be their own loss.
