tap tap tap.....is this thing on ?

Ahoy!

NM Birder reporting for my 10 post de-briefing. I'm mid forties, an avid hunter and fisherman although my girlfriend is "all in" with regards to altering one passion of mine, changing me from a bird hunter to bird watcher.

I'm so tired of half assed, non factual, opinion based wish-list reporting, I hope I'm in the right place. I'm a construction project manager, been doing it for 17 years. Girlfriend and I have been together for 11 years, no kids, neither of us want em, we have a Maine Coon named "Maverick" but answers to "Buddy". Ask me why we aren't married and I'll give you my answer.

? Don't know what else to say right now ?

90 some odd people view this, only four post something ? Does that mean I'm passing the DU "troll hunting smell test" ? My beloved birder baby warned me about being singled out for expressing my opinion with a low post count.

I did post a few comments regarding the Martin/Zimmerman case, sounds like 90 people came to sniff me out ?????

We think of DU as an oasis from what you described in your opening post (OP, as we call it) about other over-the-top discussion sites. We tend to be protective against outside rightwing troublemakers, which happens with regularity, so be mindful of that if you post anything that goes against the general flow of opinion. We all have gone through it when we were newbies with low post counts.

Don't know about "the general flow of opinion",

jumping in and around and looking at various topics, and reading various other peoples comments- it looks like a full spectrum of strictly required opinion obedience -thru- to people being able to disagree and converse without being personal and combative.

Thanks for responding, it really does make a difference.

I'll keep poking around, things seem to be pretty inviting in most places. "General Discussion" is where you go to hone your message board sparring skills isn't it ?

If your posts in this thread are representative of your general posting style, you should do well. Not taking disagreements personal & avoiding a combative tone will get you far. You have a sense of humor, which is great.

Hi,
Welcome aboard, I saw a crane this past weekend hanging out at a little lake in the city. He/She was pretty awesome looking, I have no idea what kind of crane, but someone else told me there are two that are living on the lake. I did get a decent picture of it with my stupid phone.

Peace

Not sure where you are, the SH crane are WAY up North right now. Lake in the city sounds like it may have been an egret, they look pretty damn crane like and some of em stay all year long.

Check out the "Festival of the Crane" at the Bosque Del Apache site, pretty cool pictures. The little town of San Antonio has the BuckHorn Cafe, "The 7th best Hamburger". In a town with two restuarants, it easily is the 7th best hamburger.
