Can anyone explain

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by cyberswede (a host of the DU Community Help forum).

How a post about 9-11 on the General Discussion board can be flagged as "off topic" on 9-11?

The post was about odd I find it that considering how pretty much people of all political stripes all agree that our government is capable of all kinds of atocities in the name of power and treasure, so many roll their eyes and call people "nuts" if they question the events of 9-11.

The post didnt offer an opinion on the validity of said conspiracies, just how strange I find in light of what I said above, not to mention documented cases like Operation Northwoods which clearly shows our highest military leaders are more then willing to commit acts if terror on Americans to "motivate" them into war.

My guess us the administrator is one if those very people who roll their eyes at conspiracy "nuts" and so he flagged the post. I can't think of any other reason, it wasn't "off topic", contained no profanity, etc.

Is this normal here?

a question to him in ATA. I assume it is about this.

I can't speak for him, of course, but the SOP for that forum specifically excludes conspiracy theories. Doesn't really matter what day it is, it's not permitted.

You have to post those in Creative Speculation.

...as I said, it made no mention of any specific conspiracy theory, or whether I personally believed in any 9-11 conspiracy. It was just about how strange I find that people who distrust and rail against their government, accusing it of the worst atrocities, for some reason think its "nuts" for someone to think the government isn't being honest about 9-11.

Also, that's a really stupid policy. I mean most things are "conspiracy theories", as if we had hard proof there would be charged filed or what have you (in most cases).

My guess is the owner just personally doesn't like it. Someone needs to tell him thats a crappy way to run a news and opinion forum, not to mention an affront to the whole idea of free speech and discussion forums.

Just read the General Discussion rules. It's a board for "politics, issues and current events"...but you can't discuss "Israel/Palestine, guns or religion"...

ROTFLMAO. Thats like saying you can eat at McDonald's, but you can't have anything on a roll or deep fried.

No wonder this site has never really grown more popular since I first visited several years ago. Seems opinions are very controlled.
