Hi I'm MrsKirkley.

Now that I've completed the 10 posts necessary to start my own threads, I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 40 year old college student majoring in Rehabilitation. I've lived in Kansas my whole life so far. For those who think I'm missing out, I agree! I wish I could afford to live in Vermont. My grandmother was a Democrat, as is my father, as am I and my husband, so it runs in the family. I'm pro union, for single-payer health care, and believe in fair trade or no trade, not free trade. My favorite politician is Bernie Sanders.

I hope you have fun here.

Good for you for going to school! I don't think I could handle the homework.

Are you a Shakespeare fan? If so, I hope you will check out my weekly feature in the DU Lounge: William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day. I've been doing it since 2006, and previous editions are in my journal. Feel free to look them over.

Hope to see you there. If you step over to the Lounge and introduce yourself, you'll meet a lot of nice people.

Hi,
I'm in a neighboring state, I know how it feels to be among the bastion of farmers and other rural people who want so badly to get rid of "big government", but somehow that never includes huge farm subsidies. There are bastions of relatively progressive people around though. Change happens here, it just happens much slower than elsewhere it seems, but I enjoy the midwest.

Peace
