Related: About this forumIntroducing ... Nevada Blue
I see that I'm able to create threads now so here's my 'who the heck is Nevada Blue' post.
I'm 62 and hubby is 64 - we both were able to take an early retirement so we chose Nevada a couple years ago because the closest we could get to retiring back in California (after an extended stay out east) was within a few miles of the border.
Politically, I lean left. Took one of those quadrant quizzes once years ago and I was left of Karl Marx and south of Gandhi. Socialist pacifist would probably be a safe definition. But I take most things issue by issue, so labels? meh.
My first political memory is going into the voting booth with my mother in 1960, where she explained straight ticket voting and also why she voted for Democrats. I've never forgotten it. I was 8 years old.
At 16 I campaigned for Eugene McCarthy in the Wisconsin primary. Won Wisconsin, but you all know the rest.
My first vote cast was for George McGovern.
As far as DU is concerned, I've read here since shortly after GWB was annointed. Finally decided I'd lurked long enough. I'm a voracious thread-reader but I'm not a fighter. Have been online since the days of bbs; insults roll off my back and I either self-moderate or close the browser, rather than antagonize. (read: 'boring poster' by modern standards) I try not to post unless I think I have something to say. But I am glad to be here.
PS: how do I post a picture or video? I see that people do that, but I can't see the tools to do so. I'm used to the new version of vbulletin, but I'm a little lost here.
Thanks (and thanks to those who have already welcomed me in the few threads I've participated in).
