Jury decisions

After making a good point on a recent topic my post was voted to be hidden by jury. The post itself broke no rules was on topic was polite and respectful yet it was voted to be hidden. While i dont agree with that decision i'll have to abide by it.
What i thought was unnecessary was the fact that i can now no longer participate in that particular topic due to the jurys decision, makes for a convenient way to shut down any opposition to ones point by just using the jury to eliminate your opponents points.

Your post was most likely hidden because of the image. cbayer Sep 2014 #1

In general, posts that ridicule or attack someone's personal appearance are not looked kindly upon and are often felt to be "hurtful, rude, and insensitive", which is part of the community standards.

There are many people who struggle with their weight and posts that may mock that are probably not a good idea.

As you note, the result of a hide is that you can no longer participate, but perhaps you have learned something?

of the way some one looked, i didnt think my post was outside the same logic. however thats an issue i can do nothing about ,my issue is about being prohibited from further participation in the topic.
As i thought i did nothing wrong i dont see what i am expected to learn as a result of the jury decision..

and get feedback, but that's the rule and there is no appeal process.

I guess the only thing you might consider is that these kinds of images may get hidden by a jury, so you might want to not use them.

Obviously the Spiderwomans pic was allowed to stand even though the whole topic was about how degrading to women the pose/picture was.
However thats not the source of my query which is not being able to continue participation in a topic after having a post hidden.

8. That is the rule

I don't know the actual rationale behind that rule but I would suspect it is to minimize disruptions to threads by angry posters.

Yes, the jury system can and has been used by some to shut down opposition (and in fact I have seen alerts where the altering poster completely misrepresents what the accused poster said in order to get a hide from inattentive jurors); but, ultimately you are responsible for your own posts. If you don't want to get locked out of a thread make doubly sure there is nothing objectionable in your post.

That said, if you want to make a suggestion to the admins for a change you are in the wrong forum. You should make a thread here instead.

I suspect the admins will tell you that they are happy with the jury system and have no intention of changing things, but its possible you could change their minds.

Good luck!

Edit: Sorry I didn't see that someone else had already helped you.
