Life long democrat and long time reader at DU. I visit and read here for the sanity factor (I'm very grateful for the sanity factor), and because news breaks here quickly, and the commentary about the news is as interesting as the news itself.

Though I've been reading here for a long time, I realize there is still a lot to learn about the DU process. I am looking forward to getting to know DUers.

Join some of the groups and forums that interest you. I recommend joining your state group to keep up with local issues. If your state group isn't very active then I encourage you to post there frequently so we can build an archive for reference in the future. I've been posting articles for about three years in the Texas group and it has helped to build camaraderie amongst us during that time. I have favorite links to several dozen Websites in Texas (newspapers, blogs, TV stations) that I post articles for discussion.
