I've been a member of DU for 8+ years. I got here just in time for the 2004 primary. I used to argue with RWers in chat rooms until I found DU. DU was exactly what I was looking for on the internet. It was Democratic, fast moving, edgy, and fun. There were lots of people here and lots of people that liked to mix it up. The DU rules were what made this place great. Personal attacks were forbidden, and differing views were encouraged, so discussions were interesting.

I'm a NYer, former mod, and current host in Sports and Religion. My approach is hands off. So if you want little interference, I'm your guy. I'm a big fan of sports and like to see most teams do well.

Overall, I am a fan of the DU community. I am still here for the same reasons as when I joined.

I used to be a BIG hockey fan but that was way back in the 'olden days' when there were only six teams (yep, I am that old, lol). When the teams of the WHA were added to the NHL, I slowly lost interest except during the Winter Olympics where I become a big fan again.

I've always been a baseball fan, but this last year my husband has got me watching football and enjoying it. I prefer to go to live games, rather than watching them on TV though. I'm still learning all the lingo and different plays with football, but so far I am thoroughly enjoying it, and it gives us one more thing that we can do together. I love it!

I am not much on sports but I do like watching a baseball game now and then...
And have posted in the religion forum a little...and enjoyed the fact that it was not so hands on...
