Regarding NICS laws and Background Checks. A question.

I just read this about federal checks: https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/appeals/nics-appeals-process/reasons-nics-background-checks-are-denied-or-delayed

A federal prohibition would exist for any person who:

Has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year
Is a fugitive from justice
Is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance
Has been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution
Is an alien illegally or unlawfully in the United States or who has been admitted to the United States under a non-immigrant visa
Has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions
Having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced U.S. citizenship
Is subject to a court order that restrains the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of such intimate partner
Has been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
Is under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year

I know that I can cross post this to the other group but I feel more comfortable asking this here.

When a person is denied or delayed a gun purchase, are they informed as to the reason why? Are they just simply denied?

Anyone familiar with what happens after a gun purchase is denied?

1. I would think that the person applying would know why already

If you are a fugitive from justice and you try to buy a gun and get denied, wouldn't you know the reason why?

2. Logically, yes. I would agree with this.

There are some politicians out there saying that if we deny background checks to people on the no fly list it will tip them off — Governor Kasich in particular. This is why I'm asking. here is why I am asking: http://www.rawstory.com/2015/12/gop-hopeful-john-kasich-it-will-tip-off-terrorists-if-they-cant-buy-guns/

I am looking to see if what he is saying has any validity.
“So, if all of the sudden you tell everybody that’s on the watch list that you can’t do this or that then guess what happens? Then we lose our ability to track, we lose our ability to gather information,” he added. “So I think we have to be careful.”

The candidate admitted that “of course it makes common sense” to ban gun purchases for people on terrorist watch list, but he said that “what we have to deal with is the fact that we don’t want to tip somebody off that they’re under review and that we could be gathering critical information to disrupt the plot.”

“Once it happens, we know how tragic it is,” he said. “So what he have to do is to make sure we do disrupt [terrorist plots].”

Do people who are denied purchasing guns told the reasons why they are denied?

I am tempted to call a gun shop tomorrow to ask personally. In the meantime I was hoping DU GCRA peeps could help me out with this one.

3. What fucked up logic! Of course it's republican logic so what else is new?

We can't prevent them from buying guns cause they would know we are watching them? WTF? If they are suspected terrorists I WANT THEM TO KNOW THEY ARE BEING WATCHED! I sure as fuck DON'T want them buying guns! "We lose the ability to track them"? For fuck sake, somebody already tracks EVERYTHING you do. Amazon tells me when I visited them last and what I looked at. They spy on our every move! Every phone call, every credit card purchase, EVERYTHING! Shit, they even know what I bought for dinner!

If the no fly list is fucked up (and it is) fix the fucking list but don't sell terrorists guns cause "FREEDUMB!"

As to background checks, I can't tell you. I just went through one about a week ago. They ask a bunch of really stupid questions like "Are you a fugitive from justice?" Yeah, I'm gonna check that one. I have no idea what they check when they run it through the national database but it's pretty obvious that they don't look very hard because even people who are on the no fly list pass the test.

What bullshit!

4. I know. And I know what you are saying, but truth be told:

I want to know if the premise of his argument is actually based in fact. HE acting like people who are denied a gun due to not passing a background check are told why.

I want to know if this is true or false. If not I want to make him and other GOP'rs who are spreading this lie (if it is) be exposed.
