I think the people who want reasonable

gun laws and background checks are winning. No they didn't get the law they wanted passed two weeks ago but the NRA has been redefined as a marginal group of extremists. And all the bile they spew at victims of gun crimes for speaking out will just marginalize them further. They are panicking.

Are comparisons being made to the way Canadian laws work?

Your country certainly doesn't have this 'overthrow' mentality going on, does it?

I'm sure you have plenty of hunters, but I haven't heard of much gun crimes in cities, or even in homes.

the Conservative government undid to throw red meat to their base. It looked like it too when they refused to hand over the Quebec registry to Quebec who wanted to continue the registry there. They keep trying to promote themselves as warm and fuzzy because the Conservatives have hit a ceiling of popularity well below 50%. But they just keep showing they have a tin heart: Harper went and greeted giant pandas from China at the Toronto airport instead of greeting hundreds of native youth who had walked to Ottawa from as far away as 1500 km in the dead of winter. What is Canada's worst social problem? Despare and boredom and self esteem and addiction and suicides of native youth across the country.
