11 year old shoots 16 year old "home invader", but neighbors say there was no break-in

http://gawker.com/11-year-old-shoots-16-year-old-home-invader-but-neig-1728746097?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews

So a day or two back, there was another of those supposed 'See? Good guys with guns save lives!' postings about how a heroic 11 year old fended off two 'home invaders' and protected his much younger sister.

Well, the story might not quite be that simple.

An 11-year-old boy in St. Louis County, Mo., fatally shot a 16-year-old who police believe was attempting a home invasion, but neighbors of the younger boy say what happened Thursday afternoon was not a break-in.

...

But neighbors say there’s no way there was a break-in in the middle of the day. One, Donna Jackson, says she saw a conversation between the two boys, then a point-blank shooting.

“It was not a break-in,” Jackson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “He shot him in the head.”

It has already been chiseled in stone by gun lovers and added to their list of DGUs (Defensive Gun Use).

Just my spidey senses, or something about the story, sounded more like a story. Or fable.

I knew something didn't smell right, but the gun believers were in such high ecstasy, I kept mum, expecting the sorry tale would expand in the coming days. Here we are... again.

Still some confusion about actually what did happen. It is conceivable that the 16 year old fell into the house after being shot, but you have to wonder about what a 16 year old and a 22 year old are doing at the house of an 11 year old. They should not be conducting business with him or even dealing with him. Also the timeline is screwy - three attempts to break in - why no call to 911. When did the 11 year old finally arm himself?

If an attempted break in is demonstrated, the 22 year old is looking at felony murder.

Note I made the same argument about George Zimmerman who was also the adult in the encounter. He had no business stalking a 17 year old irrespective of how the encounter ultimately played out.

If they were selling magazines, they probably went up to random houses. If the kid called them up to the house, as one witness said, they went because he initiated contact. But there certainly seem to have been multiple witnesses out and about who didn't see any break-in attempts, much less the 3 the 11 year old is claiming.

If anyone is looking at felony murder, I'm thinking the 11 year old will.

in some peoples imagination.

The fact that the gunners claim 1.5 million a year dgu's and cannot find one that holds up to scrutiny after reviewing the facts of the case. And if they do it is a gun on gun situation....

Yahoo, ChicagoTribune and all the wrong wing gun nut email I get were all pointing to this ONE case as SEE we have one!

The reality is they are 1,499,999 short of their "reality"...

Notice how that none of the usual suspects are chiming in on this one.
