Sanders criticizes Trump at interfaith event at Washington mosque

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders says GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is among "demagogues" who are attempting to exploit divisions among religion, race and national origin.

Sanders leveled the charge while attending an interfaith event at a mosque in the nation's capital. Sanders says "the issue of the moment" is whether Americans will allow themselves to be divided.

The Vermont independent says calls by Trump to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. are "incendiary" and come at a time of "hate speech and attacks on the Muslim-American community including death threats."

The event was held in Washington's Masjid Muhammad mosque and attended by various faith groups.
