that we used to go to before we moved out to the boonies. We will go into town to eat occasionally (not so much these days for certain) and stop at a remembered favorite place. We bring the food home anxiously awaiting a meal from "out" and look at each other with bad faces and it is always because it tastes like sugar. I do not know if they are adding more or just being away from easy food has made us notice it now. These are good, local restaurants too. Not just chains.

I do not use a lot of boxed food so I do not know but suspect it has been creeping up. We no longer have a pizza place that has crust that does not taste like sugar and the sauce, OMG it is awful. Too bad I really do not like to cook but I am doing an awful lot of it. Still, check what you buy.

I bought a 10 pound bag of sugar a few weeks ago. It has been a while since I could find a 10 pound bag, they are all in 4's and 8's now. I use it in my tea in the morning or on cereal. I was puzzled by it's lack of sweetness. The sugar had large, clear crystals in it. I wonder what they are? I need twice the sugar now to make it sweet.

Things are odd and it is hard to count on what we always used to. *****sorry, I just noticed the forum this is posted in. Yes we are part of the world but I do not know if this fits here. Sorry.

That is certainly interesting. I suspect some changes to the ingredients will be forthcoming.

regular array of subs, and if so, whether those breads/rolls served in Irish Subways reflect the same basic recipe for bread worldwide, or whether it was a national modification.

I rarely eat Subway, but would like clarification. That said, if you spend twenty minutes or so in the grocery store comparing nutrition labels on two dozen or more types of "healthy" breads, some of those are absolutely loaded with added sugar sources, so they may be right.

MSG causes killer headaches and (eventually) Parkinson's.
