A word of caution....some of the print reviews out there to do have significant spoilers - particularly from The Guardian. So if you want to go in fresh, skip those reviews, watch Blade Runner: The Final Cut to refresh your memory of that sci-fi classic and rest content that it seems Denis Villeneuve has done one hell of a job in bringing this long-anticipated sequel to the silver screen.

1. Two of my favorite movies have 'voiceover' narratives.

"Apocalypse Now" and "Bladerunner."

Harrison Ford has said they tried to 'sabotage' the movie studio request of an ongoing verbal storytelling with his bland, unemotional reading, but the studio loved it! - and, it does add to a mystery this sequel just might answer!

I love Blade Runner but am more than ready for an alternative to the man view.

3. If you like "Blade Runner," the new one will knock your socks off!

Arrival, easily the best film of 2016, only seemed to be director Denis Villeneuve’s signature sci-fi project. Blade Runner 2049, the best film so far this year, cements him as a bona fide icon of the genre.

...the new Blade Runner amazes because every aspect is top notch: Hampton Fancher’s story is surprisingly emotional, Benjamin Wallfisch and Han Zimmer’s pounding soundtrack is just as integral as Vangelis’ ethereal original score, and cinematographer Roger Deakins will get his first Oscar if there’s any justice. The sequel takes the futuristic action out of L.A., ...and the stunning visuals add to the enjoyably visceral experience.

The first Blade Runner influenced a generation of filmmakers and films; 2049 is the rare sequel that exceeds the original and honestly could be more important in the long run. It’s a moving, masterful movie that demands a rewatch and will wow geeks and mainstream viewers alike — so much so we probably won’t have to wait 35 years for another one.
