(28,990 posts)1. Great movie that I haven't watched for many years
But, I have it recorded.
One of Nicholson's finest.

(9,275 posts)2. The book is told from Chief Bromden's perspective
I always found it interesting that Chief narrates the whole story, but hardly speaks at all. Him and McMurphy are the only two sane ones of the bunch.
It is one of my favorite book/movies. Nurse Ratched is one of the most evil villains ever.

(5,348 posts)3. I still remember how I expected to be disappointed in the movie.
I loved the book. But when I heard they made a movie of it, I couldn't imagine how the story would be told because, as you say, in the book, the story is told through a character that stays silent almost throughout.
But the movie is every bit as masterful as the novel!
