Last week, we could visit if we signed a statement saying we weren't sick.
This week, no visits at all.
I completely understand their caution.
But my Dad is heart-broken. He misses her so...

And I'm not sure the facility has that capability.
Plus, mom's dementia would probably make it difficult.
But maybe it's worth looking in to. He lives upstairs from my sister in her house, and she's somewhat tech savvy. I guess we could check w/ the nursing home to see if they have the ability to do this.

(1,962 posts)My mil was in care for over 13 years after a massive stroke. We were kept out of the home many times over the years because of the flu. I think it's best for all, but so difficult. My heart goes out to you and your family.

(429 posts)has done the same. No visitors until further notice.
They had a flue outbreak last Fall, during which my 92 yr old mother got sick.
Im glad theyve taken this step to protect the residents.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
