I just hope they put her health first and not sports.

She is already to big and slow for the WNBA.

It could be younger depending on when a girl first gets her period.

not a "basketball player"! I immediately focused on how difficult her life must be with this handicap. Imagine being so tall while trying to live day to day amongst her peers. Sports isn't life!

she loves the game if she is going to play. I hated most of the sports I played. I was just expected to be good because my brother was.

I have a friend who was 6’2” and husky in high school. He grew up in Ohio. He was constantly pressured to play football. He hated sports.

I hope that is not this young girl’s story. She’s got it hard enough.

If valid, she appears to be merely the extremes of height for women. While lauded as a basketball star, I hope she finds ways to live a normal life as well.

In the 80s I had a roommate with it. He was very tall and lanky…heard he died in his 50s.

...in high school died of an aortic rupture due to Marfan's in his senior year.
He was the only guy I ever played against that made me say "Wow!"
In his sophomore year he was 6'5", a year later he was 6'9". Still growing.
And, he had a man's body. He was carved out of marble. His physique was shaped like a funnel! Strong as a bull!
His footwork was phenomenal, and because dunking wasn't allowed, he had a nice turnaround & a baby skyhook.
His was to be the first of John Thompson's great big men, early in Thompson's tenure as coach.
He was also a good student, so making the grade at G'town was unlikely to be a problem.
But, he died about a third of way through his senior season.
He blew a hole half the size of a dime in his aorta. Of course, no 911 & no cellphones in those days.
He was dead before the ambulance got there.
Very sad.

At 7'8", Igor remains in poor health. Such a kind and gentle soul too.

Britney Griner had a tough childhood because of her height, now 6'-8". She was teased a lot. I think she is just now getting over it.
