Late last week, the NCAAs Division 1 Mens and Womens Basketball Oversight Committees put forth a proposal to alter the timing for the start of the season for both sports. If approved in October by the Division 1 council, the changes would go into effect for the 2025-26 seasons.
Heres what were looking at:
Mens Basketball would start on the Wednesday 22 weeks before the championship game in April. Under the current schedule, the 2025-26 season would start on Tuesday, November 11, and the changed schedule would move that to Wednesday, November 5.
Womens Basketball would start on the Monday 22 weeks before the championship game in April. Under the current schedule, the 2025-26 season would start on Tuesday, November 11, and the changed schedule would move that to Monday, November 3.

(3,923 posts)Big time teams will play our lady of the crippled blind girl until conference season starts in January.
They will try to get media to pony up for another week of games, but it will be all about the college football playoffs. The NFL will be in full swing.
Bad move. Especially since the NFL appears ready to expand into more nights of games every year starting after Thanksgiving when the antitrust exemption allows them to play on Saturday (likely Friday as well moving forward) in addition to Thursday nights.
Right now, bad Thursday night games outdraw nearly every NCAA basketball game. Why would s network give big bucks for programming that virtually nobody will watch, advertisers won't want. It's a lose, lose situation.
