Marijuana industry group proposes overhaul of pot law (Colorado)

DENVER – A faction of the marijuana industry has proposed legislation that would represent the most sweeping changes to marijuana law in Colorado since it was enacted just three years ago.

Crafted with input from the Marijuana Industry Group and the Colorado Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, the nearly 50-page proposal is considered by many observers to be a “wish list.”

...

The draft legislation – obtained by The Durango Herald – would create a five-member commission appointed by the governor to enact rules and regulations governing the industry. Marijuana rules and regulations are currently promulgated by the Marijuana Enforcement Division, within the Department of Revenue.

...

The proposal would allow operators to remediate marijuana or product found to have pesticides before destruction is required. It also would allow a pesticide that is exempt from registration under federal law and is labeled for human consumption.

Pretty much a mixed bag, with some good (PTSD, special events), some bad (pesticides), and some probably really bad (governor appointed oversight?) ideas. I doubt anything happens with it this session, but a good overall starting point for discussion moving forward.

Other than total amount, of course.

It's outside grows that are difficult, especially if you live in a town with local ordinances.

Oregon is on the "must-visit" list, but that one has to be carefully planned out. Here's hoping California joins the club come November.

There is a ton of stuff to see, too. If you can set aside time (and it's between June and August, the rest of the year weather is too sketchy) you should try and hit crater lake.

As much as I'm enjoying being able to gently taunt my many Californian friends with it, it'd be great to see the entire West Coast one big, fully legalized block of green.
