Did you notice what they are NOT saying??

They've all got the long knives out for Bernie now. They are hand-wringing that he's so radical, so socialist, so unelectable... And, and, and..... But the single MOST devastating thing that Bernie says-- and they have no argument for-- is this:

'In the last 30 years, there has been a massive transfer of wealth from the middle class and working families of this country. The middle class has become poorer and trillions of dollars have been transferred to the top one-tenth of 1 percent."

It is unassailable because it is the truth, and everyone knows it.

Makes it hard to stay afloat and we're so busy paddling that we can do little to stop them when they come to blow more holes in them. Hopefully Bernie is our oar, not only to row with, but to knock the shit out of the hole blowers when they come to sink us.

I had a discussion with the woman who schedules our shifts (I am a non-medical caregiver for the elderly). One of my clients is mad at me, because--two weeks ago!--she asked me to cut an apple for her as I was putting on my coat and leaving at the end of my shift. Now, I had been working for a company that was radically opposed to overtime, so I off-handedly remarked "sure, I can leave a little early tomorrow to compensate--no problem."

Well, this started a now two-week long resentment for this poor elderly woman, who decided that I "didn't want to cut her an apple" (needless to say, I did cut the apple). Apparently, the resentment flared again today, and I got a "talking to." My scheduler told me today that "if you go over your assigned time, that's on you."

In other words, she is saying that I might have to work extra time, but I won't get paid for it. Now, last I checked, that's illegal, but I desperately need this job. So, like I told a friend earlier, we're expected to eat shit sandwiches every day, just to keep our crappy jobs.

I only get 25 hours a week, at $9 an hour. Big whoop... Barely pays my bills, and I still must use EBT.

I cannot believe how bad things have gotten.

The oligarch's brought in an actor to play the part, a senile actor at that. All he had to do was "act" Presidential and fire off written one line quips now and then. While the media turned him into the greatest ever, the oligarchs were sneaking their dirty, shitty, little economic policies in the back door. Now along comes someone like Bernie who is basically turning our political consciousness back to pre-Reagan times and he's a Socialist! I don't believe things are going to go back to the way they used to be peaceably. Look at how unions started at the beginning of the last century. Greedy capitalists don't get voted out-they get thrown out.

I'm a bookkeeper. I had a boss who I think was pretty typical. He was a Republican and hated paying taxes. After years where the company struggled and usually operated at a loss, we were finally profitable. He wanted to know what tax bracket we would be in. When I told him about $30K was in a higher bracket, he said "Okay". Then he came back to my office with a list of all the employees (about 20) and all the bonus checks I should cut for them. He prefered to spend all $30K on bonuses than to pay $6K in taxes.

When they lower taxes across the board, there is no incentive to pay employees better and to hire more people.

I think there's plenty more to come.

The interesting thing this time is whether the referee (the media) point out there has been a foul.

Last time, for Obama, they did. This time? I'm not so sure.

We may have to mobilize and thump and embarrass the mainstream media through social media.

did you notice what Bernie is NOT saying?

"Transfer" is too benign. The appropriate word is "redistribution." There has been a redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the top one percent.

The command of words is important. Failing to own this word will result in the other side will co-opting the word and using it to scare the meek and brand Bernie as a socialist to be feared.

Orwell forewarned us of the effect of language in sociopolitical context. We need to OWN that word and use it against those who would otherwise use it against us.
