Bernie Sanders in Iowa: Strong youth support threatens Clinton's 'inevitable' candidacy
For two hours Saturday at the University of Iowa, the mostly college-aged crowd of kids with asymmetrical haircuts and baggy denim waited for the 74-year-old headliner, Bernie Sanders.
In the mean time, they screamed for Hunger Games heartthrob and Sanders supporter Josh Hutcherson, swayed to the sensitive folk rock of Mark Foster and went wild for indie-pop mainstays Vampire Weekend. "This is dope," said Michael Lichtenberger, 21, standing about three metres from the empty lectern. "Feel the Bern, 2016!" added Alicia Freiburg, 20, quoting the Democratic presidential candidate's rallying cry. more http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/bernie-sanders-clinton-hillary-inevitable-candidate-1.3427566

2. He was at the old Fieldhouse, where they used to play basketball games in...
... back in the old days before Carver Hawkeye Arena was built when I was there.
Have a lot of good memories of great concerts there. Sat in the first row to see Linda Ronstadt, and also saw one of Foreigner's first concerts in the country, when they filled in at the last minute for the Outlaws preceding a Steely Dan concert there. Would have loved so much to see a concert with him speaking there too. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2016/01/30/sanders-scores-biggest-crowd-yet-university-iowa/79582812/ So great to see pics outside the Fieldhouse near the dorms I used to live in earlier today with the huge lines in front of them. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1280&pid=105023 Hope Bernie rode in and out on the street from the FieldHouse toward the downtown area when that very street turns in to BURLINGTON Street, a fitting named street for him to do so. And perhaps stop near the downtown area at this intersection of that street (note the street signs here) and speak to crowds there then. https://www.google.com/maps/%4041.6578742,-91.5347871,3a,75y,141.18h,88.95t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s3iRXTWJAfSTsFsX9LhFD7g!2e0 Go Bernie, you're now my favorite Hawkeye too! ![]() |
