(10,345 posts)1. Did they really just say this?
I've tried to point out to these sorts that the Primary process is not an election
Well then why the hell are their polls and ballots and such? I thought those were mechanisms of an election. Am I wrong? This IS my first time getting politically involved after all, I'd REALLY like to know. What the fuck am I missing?

(57 posts)2. This is ...
... the sort of crap that establishment politicians and their minions say when they are running for the hills. They like to grab the mantle of democracy, then enumerate every reason they can think of to convince you that democracy doesn't really exist, and that you should therefore abandon your silly utopian illusions and happily submit to their power. Republicans have mastered this technique.

As we know, Clinton commands a wide lead in superdelegates...therefore the process itself is corrupt, unfair, and must be abolished.
No, the process was corrupt, unfair and UNDEMOCRATIC long before Clinton ever got a single superdelegate, either in this campaign or the last. DWS let us know how she plans to use them, to try to prevent the party from being taken away from the establishment by, you know, the actual people. It's as bad as the electoral college, ALSO established to keep the hoi polloi away from the reins of power. Cause heavens forbid the unwashed masses actually get to decide who represents them.
