So, I understand just about everything Bernie stands for but I'm admittedly new to this political activism thing. Bernie is the first politician to inspire me into action!
So that said, can anyone explain to me what his positions on the TPP (what is the TPP) and free trade? does he want to eliminate outsourcing of jobs or is it more than that? or am I off the mark completely?
thanks in advance!

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP): Most of us support free trade in theory, but see actual trade deals like NAFTA and TPP as screwing us royally in the jobs department. A recent Reuters/IPSOS poll claims most Americans think free trade is beneficial, yet Public Citizen points out that these polls failed to actually mention TPP by name. When asked how we feel about the actual results of fustercluck trading pacts like NAFTA and TAFTA, we sound an awful lot like Sanders. 84 percent want protection for U.S. manufacturing jobs and 73 percent want bans on currency manipulation neither of which are in TPP. 46 percent believe our trade agreements have cost us jobs and made wages lower. Only 17 percent think theyve helped create jobs, and only 11 percent think theyve raised wages.

(10,420 posts)The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a trade agreement between several countries on the Pacific rim (I think 14). Bernie says it would do nothing but hurt working class and middle class Americans by shipping more of their jobs overseas while enriching the billionaires. If Bernie had his way, he would also do away with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and pretty much any other "free" trade agreement that we are currently involved with that hurts the American worker.

(45,251 posts)I usually bite my tongue before typing this, but the answers to your questions are online, including at Bernie's own websites. There is also a pinned post in the Populist Reform Group that gives a link to Bernie Sanders on the Issue.

(15,472 posts)every time a hedger moves money, from one off-shore to another off-shore they get taxed, never done, why would you stop ? Not to mention only him and two other senators were the only members of Congress to tell us about the TPP and it's many maladies, which he , unlike Hillary, has stated repeatedly that it's disastrous for the World .
