Bernie Sanders is making History. Each vote, including yours this morning, is the ride he needs to that airport.

(7,541 posts)I remember my first vote, I was in college, 18 and voted by a paper mail-in ballot. I voted for Hubert Humphrey and have never voted for a Republican for President and am sure I never will.

(7,142 posts)I have been looking for the other person who voted for Humphrey. Pennsylvania here, and I expect my vote to matter in April when I vote for Bernie.

(14,733 posts)Beyond the Presidency and Senate spot, there wasn't a single other race on the ballot that had more than one candidate listed, and for the vast majority, there wasn't even a Democrat running, leaving almost every position uncontested in Republican hands. SW Ohio for you.

(24,010 posts)Our votes may help turn the tide, but not until June 7. I can't tell you how much I look forward to that day!
A candidate like Bernie Sanders is a once in a lifetime opportunity. And I'm 70--been through a whole lot of elections, seen a lot of good people win and a lot of good people go down. But I have never seen a presidential candidate as transformative as Bernie, nor a campaign that is as transformative as this one. My parents and grandparents did--FDR and the New Deal. My generation lost our best leaders to assassination, and, after that, this nation didn't recover, and is only starting to, right now.
Win this nomination or not, everything is different now. Our minds have been re-opened to government that is truly of, by and for the people.
GO RETROWIRE! GO VOTE! VOTE FOR BERNIE ON OUR BEHALF!

(3,544 posts)Your post got me going this morning. Thanks. I'm done voting.
I was, however disappointed at the turnout here. Typically we have pretty large turnouts. There wasn't squat at our polling place. It's amazing that with so much riding on this election, that nobody appears to give a shit. It's spring break, so the millennials probably aren't up yet.
My question is, what happened to the rest of us? What a total disappointment for me. And we wonder how we got here as a country?
