Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI will never watch Rachel Maddow again.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1017346451Her reporting is so anti-Bernie and so pro-Hillary that she is not a credibly objective reporter.
What do you think?
Bernie's recent wins are amazing. He did not choose the caucus structure in those states. But he won every one.
Hillary won in the South because of her name recognition and, dare I say it, because she has a bit of an advantage in Black churches and the culture of Black churches. If I mention why, I will be kicked off DU but having lived in the South as a teenager, I'm pretty sure I am right about her advantage due to her ease in the Black churches.

(57,936 posts)Rachel Maddow videos when posted on DU. Never again!
She seemed really upset that Bernie is gaining delegates and winning races.
People who vote in caucuses are motivated enough to go to the caucus.
People who vote in primary elections are not as well informed as those who vote in caucuses.
I have to say -- and it is quite noticeable and verifiable on DU -- that Bernie's voters are in general better informed and more articulate than Hillary's.
We Bernie voters know precisely why we are choosing Bernie and not Hillary.
The Hillary voters don't seem to know really why they prefer their candidate. It's just kind of a vague thing for them from what I can tell. That is what has impressed me so much as I have campaigned for Bernie too.

(10,345 posts)I'm beginning to form a more solid understanding of why some support her. And they aren't naive.
To put it shortly, not everyone on DU is supportive of other religions.

.. the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 : Pointless alert. There's nothing wrong with the post. Leave it.
Juror #2 : this post is inarticulate, regurgitated nonsense, and in no way are Bernie supporters more intelligent. but this isn't hide-worthy. no TOS violation I can see. Leave it.
Juror #3 : A pro-Sanders and pro-Sanders-supporters message posted in the Sanders group? How is this a condescending dog whistle?
Juror #4 : I don't think you know what the alert system is for.
Juror #5 : No explanation given
Juror #6 : this alert is ridiculous.
Juror #7 : Easy leave of a weakly supported alert.

I also don't have a TV...probably longer than 5 years. When I pet sit at a house, I catch up on Suits, Game of Thrones and my fave...Orphan Black.
I don't watch their news...nope..

(10,345 posts)I'm close to Gen X but I don't qualify! Fuck me!
But having the older siblings as you grow up certainly gives you a good dose of the 90's throughout the developmental years. I say it all the time, Gen X and Y are the most cynical and curious generations of modern time. They have seen a US government lie and cheat and have questioned it the whole time. We're not stupid and we're not afraid to bite the hand that feeds us if we know we're getting fed shit.
I LOVE YOU TOO
Oilwellian
(12,647 posts)That makes him one of that generation's youngest members. You described him perfectly, cynical and curious. I might add, he had the internet at his fingertips in his mid-teens and his room was always full of various computer parts that he liked to tinker with. He learned it from the inside-out and much to our lack of surprise, is an IT guy today. LOL
As much as I've loved seeing the millennials recognized and appreciated for their political acumen and liberal philosophies, I've also quietly given the Gen X'ers their dues as well. They played a key role in educating not only the Millennials, but The Boomers as well, and they helped us join the internet community much sooner than we probably would have on our own. At least that's the case for me and several Boomers I know.
The internet has brought us knowledge, and that's a mighty powerful force that can't be controlled. They will try, but as my son described it, "it'll be like playing Wack-A-Mole."
I am so in awe of both generations and I look forward to living out my years and watching you all come into power. The Gen X'ers are there now.

(23,671 posts)It was obvious she was being extra cautious in what she said back then, to the point her opinions were next to worthless.
She's obviously covering her butt by saying whats expected of her, but that makes her opinions worthless.
Its sad, but this illustrates why the networks are willing to overpay the on air talent, it makes them pliable and easy to manipulate because the talent knows they've got it good, and finding another job like this is next to impossible if you dont kiss ass as required.

(6,960 posts)... I just stopped watching MSNBC.
It was either all Trump all the time or a smug assumption that Mrs. Clinton was inevitable ... so why was anyone bothering in the Democratic Party.
With the internet it ought not be surprising that one can do very well and be greatly informed without MSNBC.
So, who needs 'em?

Now I can't stand the sight of her, much less listen to her.

(3,544 posts)about 2 weeks ago. She was tolerable til then. Now it's sickening to watch. A true oligarch signature is all over this one. The whole damn channel (network).

(6,719 posts)Don't know if it was her bosses that got her or the clintons -- but she caved. I stopped watching all of MSNBC except sometimes Lawrence. Also unfriended all of them on FB.

(185 posts)Maybe she'll be the next one dropped by MSNBC since much of her older audience has/is in the process of abandoning her ratings-wise.

(9,688 posts)I was interested in what Rachel said in the Air America days, but then, that was easy, she was anti-Bush.
That made it super easy.
But now, most of the actual issues over which she was anti-Bush are verboten, taboo. Subject only to pro-Clinton spin. So there can't even possibly be any depth.
And that's a mean turnaround, not one many of her Air America listeners will "evolve" with -- not being paid Rachel's big bucks to grease their wheels.
delrem
(9,688 posts)I watched a couple minutes of it.
I hear that Maddow, Hayes, O'Donnell, Matthews, Scarborough, are well paid.
Good for them.
But I think they're as bought out as Clinton.

(5,217 posts)She is unwatchable. Her TV show had a certain stink to it from the get-go. Unwatchable.

(23,156 posts)starting cutting back when she'd be beating various dead horses. I can't recall specifics, but felt she was just going off on completely uninteresting tangents. It's probably been nearly six months since I've watched more than one or two segments of her show.
I likewise don't have TV, but much can be watched on the internet, including Rachel's show for those who care.

I should do some research, out of curiosity, how low her and MSNBC ratings have dropped in the past year~if no one else has done so.

(1,364 posts)change the channel. She has gotten worse and worse, what with the over explanations and repeating herself ad nauseum. Chris Matthews, the "Mandibular Masturbator", and jumping jack, Chris Hayes. I have dropped them on fb. The whole bunch stinks.

(1,898 posts)And it's a crying shame because I used to LOVE her show, always starting my weekend with the 6AM ET Saturday re-airing of Friday's show. I have purged her from my DVR. I only will watch again once Sanders has clinched the nomination, at which point she will have no choice but to stop discussion Clinton.

(404 posts)The Sanders campaign "did not compete" on the same level as the Clinton campaign in a number of states.
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/clinton-outspends-sanders-super-tuesday-states-n524266
Maddow did a piece about a month ago pointing out that Sanders' "political revolution" was a no-show because voter turnout wasn't anywhere near 2008 levels (in many of those "did not compete" states BTW). Has she corrected this report due the the large volumes seen in more recent primary events?

(1,587 posts)Where y'all been?
I tried to watch her, but she'd go into these long, rambling, repetitive tirades and I'd be shouting at her to cut to the chase. The Republicans would have like a five word soundbite that was easy to remember, catchy and could fit on a bumper sticker, and the Dems would have a 500 word essay that only a professor of philosophy could parse. It's no fucking wonder people tuned them out.
Tweety was a spitting, drooling flip flopper, Ed, well, I never quite got what Ed's schtick was. Keith started being a rant-o-matic, and Stephanie couldn't stop blaming all the ills of whatever political hot button she was pushing on the rural and poor. And laughing about it. Fuck her.

(17,651 posts)And how she rushed into the hallway after the interview to get Hill's comment on Trump's abortion comments.
Eta: Maddow brought up Sanders' comment about it then asked Hill what she though of Sanders' statement. Of course with Rachel holding open the door, Clinton walked through with her opinion.
She's feeling so very pleased with herself, me thinks.
