He's not a revolutionary by any stretch, but at least this guy is speaking our language -
"The unconscionable greed of the billionaire class is destroying this nation and it has got to end."

(10,493 posts)He has seen it, fought it, and knows what he is talking about!
For us Bernie supporters who understand that our country cannot continue to be controlled by Special Interests any longer, we need to help get his message out, volunteer, and fight for our Democracy! We cannot get hung up wasting time with those that are willing to live under corporate rule. I know SCOTUS appointments are extremely important, but Bernie can win this thing and many Nay Sayers will come over to our side once they see that he can.
Un-bought Senators of Bernie's caliber and views don't happen very often. At some point we will have to choose to fight off the corruption of our election system. There will never be the well funded candidate to do this unless a Warren Buffet decides to run and pay for it himself (not likely to ever happen).
This is the time! Our country is in serious jeopardy, and I for one am not willing to live in a country where 99% of us have to settle for whatever the corporations and the extremely wealthy LET US HAVE! They are not known for their generousity. The founding fathers were willing to risk it all for this country, we should do no less.
Feel the Bern!!!!!

(4,775 posts)I've been kicking around an idea for crowd-sourced funding of politicians that swear off corporate money, in theory there would be enforcement mechanisms (such as no more crowd-sourced money if they took corporate money) to keep them working for us. My theory is that some or even many of them would do the right thing if the system let them. It wouldn't need to wait for a constitutional amendment, either (I am ALL for that, just feel we can't wait for it). See any promise in that approach? Or how do you see us getting the change you so doggedly advocate?

(10,493 posts)laws they would ever pass would be to stop the people from rounding up money for candidates. I had to register with my County Clerk and take a stupid class just to register voters, but boy are the local Teapublicans going to be pissed at me! My community is 49-51% black to white ratio, but city government is mostly white. I am setting up black churches to take the people to the DMV to get state issued ID's, fundraise to pay for them, and drive them to the polls.
I am explaining to the black people in my area about how they are not wanted to vote, to not believe what they hear on TV!
We need to be the ones to start recruiting candidates who will not be bought off, that understand what Public Service really means, and to educate others on what is really going on. Most people haven't really put it all together, though they already understand that most politicians are corrupt.
We are too used to just voting as our public service, if we even do that. The biggest challenge is finding people willing to devote a little time to work for their Democracy, to fight! That is how we lost our Representative Democracy in the first place. There is a lot to be done, things like organizing a fight to get rid of electronic voting and tabulation systems, educating people as to what has happened and why...
Good luck, let me know how it works for you as it is something I need to learn about as well!

Kick and recommend.
Will post to my FACEBOOK page.
Yep. Just plain love the guy. A rare jewel mixed in with a load of turds. Who woulda thunk we would have ever found such a jewel in the COTUS?
Well there are a tiny handful of jewels. There's Sherrod Brown, Elizabeth Warren, and Al Franken.... maybe a few others?
That other senator from Ohio maybe?

(2,150 posts)I went back ten pages on the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum and can't find it. It should be one of the top threads.
It could be that I don't know how the DU monitor people sift through these threads. Maybe it's posted in some obscure forum.
But shouldn't it also be in the GENERAL DISCUSSION pages?
AikidoSoul
(2,150 posts)This is very distressing.
Should I be worried about behind-the-scenes gaming this thread out of sight? Or am I crazy for thinking such a thing?
TBF
(31,922 posts)so it will not show up in General Discussion. I'm not spending too much time in GD these days. It is on the greatest page, though, so people will see it there.
AikidoSoul
(2,150 posts)Will you please tell me where the heck it is?
And.... I did find it in another discussion group but it said it had only 22 replies. That is inaccurate.

(31,922 posts)please feel free. I tend to post in smaller groups - and I'm kind of confused about exactly what is GD vs. GD: Primaries.
There are a ton of these kinds of memes out there. They are on Facebook and Google - you just put in Bernie's name with a few key words and search images. I found this one using a google search.
AikidoSoul
(2,150 posts)kicks and comments, and yet it's NOWHERE to be found.
I can get to it 'cause I don't close it.
I went back as far as the May posts on GD Primaries and it's not there.
And I went back at least 15 pages on General Discussion and it's not there either.
This is very disturbing to me and makes me worry about the integrity of the DU jury system. I keep getting invited to join, and now I think I will.
Dammit... I'm really pissed about this disappearance.
I will post it to my FACEBOOK page however, but that it won't get as much exposure as here on DU.
Yeah --- I might repost this, but your thread was just fine thank you and should have made it to the GREATEST list.
TBF
(31,922 posts)will never show in GD or GD primaries - they stay in their groups. You might see them trending on the front page or hit the greatest page. It hasn't disappeared!
AikidoSoul
(2,150 posts)because you didn't post it under General Discussion.
The front page of DU is what most of the thousands of people who come here see.
It's where the biggest stories are, and where the GREATEST THREAD pages are most prominent.
If somebody thinks that is wrong, please educate me.
TBF... I only wanted your thread to be seen by as many as possible and it was driving me nuts.
Am going to give up now and go on to something more productive.
Thanks for posting it... and I'm glad I was able to catch it before it disappeared!
TBF
(31,922 posts)thanks for the K&R ... I don't post very often in GD but maybe I should with some of these memes. Thanks again!

(17,320 posts)the Billionaires of the 21st Century may well be listed as the most selfish and destructive creatures ever to walk the Earth. That is a list that no person of good will would ever want to be included on. Current Billionaires would be wise to give that concept a thought.

The most backstabbing, polluting, misogynist, racist, homophobic, science denying, democracy hating, dictator coddling, child enslaving and murderous people you could ever know.
I've always felt you could judge people by the company they keep. Thanks to CU, that is more true than ever.
