Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThis invitation to the Vatican feels like a turning point
Maybe its the insane reaction from Hillarys supporters but the stark differences in who the two of them really are will be on full display.
The press won't be able to spin that.
It will force at least some contemplation of Bernie's biggest issues.
It puts him on the national stage.
I've been pessimistic/realistic about Bernie's chances of getting the nomination even as I've done everything I can in IA, IL and WI to help him win.
Today feels like some corner's been turned and I'm feeling hopeful for his chances.
Anyone else feeling the Bern of a new day?

(41,600 posts)Did you see the map showing the states where most Catholics live? EAST COAST and WEST COAST have the largest concentration of Catholics. That is HUGE for NY, CT., PA., DE and MD. Then go to the West Coast and CA.'s Latino voters who are mostly Catholics...this visit is MONUMENTALLY IMPORTANT.
The opponents know that too. That's why they've been carrying on like sore losers and spoiled brats all day long. They're JEALOUS, but this Pope would NEVER invite someone like Clinton to the Vatican. He sees where her loyalties lie and they're not with THE PEOPLE, like Bernie's are.
This pope washes the feet of the poor and homeless. I could see Bernie doing that, but NEVER Clinton. Bernie and the Pope have BOTH been fighting for 'The Least of these' their entire lives! Clinton? Not so much. She was too busy giving speeches for $225,000 each.
I can't wait to see how the corrupt corporate owned MSM spins the crowds Bernie is certain to draw in Italy. He's beloved around the world! I bet the Italian media gives him more respect than he's EVER received from our corrupt corporate owned MSM. I hope they're shamed....though they're probably incapable of feeling shame.

I try not read too much into the bird and the Pope but wow it's hard not to!

(5,069 posts)I would argue it puts him on the INTERnational stage.
That's why team Clinton is trying to sabotage it.

(43,165 posts)I am thrilled that the pope has invited him to Rome. The bird event was very moving. To me, both are affirmations. There is a force much larger than pollsters, pundits, and propagandists at work.

(21,046 posts)People like Bill Maher, who is openly atheist, like the pope.
The Pope talks about the evils of greed and unregulated capitalism. And he seems to be a really nice guy, on the side of being a kind Christian instead of being the head of the office of the Inquisition, which Benedict, his predecessor, was. They had to change the name of the office. It became the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which sounds better than the Inquisition.
I figure that if the Republicans don't like him, the Pope must be doing something right.
And the same as far as Hillary's defenders.

(15,021 posts)It's going to happen. And The Pope will make it happen.
To strip away anything other than political theater, it's going to help New York and California. Hillary (and her supporters) know this.

(14,881 posts)They loooove all things Pope. Visits by the Pope always get 24x7 coverage with blathering, worshipping media.
We don't know that the Pope will meet with him; if he does it would be a very big deal.
I think the turning point came when he started winning landslides all in a row. But this kind of fires up the booster rockets (or, for us horse people, lights a fire under his tail
) as we head into the final stretch...
