First, it was Stupid - to leave the campaign trial
Then, he was Lying - about getting an invitation from the Vatican.

He doesn't mean to go; it's all a ruse and he will cancel at the last minute because he a. can't get there on time by a commercial flight; b. he can't afford to go by private jet; c. the real purpose has to do with setting the schedule for the debate with Clinton.
