Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumGo Bernie...

You can't talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars. You can't talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. You're really tampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry.... Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong... with capitalism.... There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism". ~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Frogmore, S.C. November 14, 1966. Speech in front of his staff.

(9,688 posts)Not GD: P because it isn't about a 2015 Dem primary.
But in GD, because so many DUers have been suggesting, with a sick kind of innuendo, that Bernie Sanders is somehow "racist" for promoting a similar message.
That sick trope is being doubled-down on rather than vanishing, so perhaps those who're promoting it should debate the issue directly in MLK's terms.

(9,126 posts)Have there been real posts by people of color who want to talk about the issue? Yes. Are there far more posters who are using it as a hammer who actually don't care one bit. It is happening on other sites too, but it is not allowed to get out of hand like DU.

(9,688 posts)That's why I didn't repost it in GD -- because I was too afraid.
I can't stand up against a swarm like that - and there are swarms not only in the primaries but in many special interest groups, and once I've been hit by a swarm I don't go there again. What a coward I am!!
