Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumanyone else phone banking new york voters this weekend?
just wanted to "compare notes" on your experiences.
just finished for the day.. loved the interactive map too, that was fun.
I understand we topped an all time high on calls made too, so that's fabulous!

(27 posts)Talked to 5 people definitely voting Bernie including a very sweet and enthusiastic lady who was also doing volunteer work. A sixth Bernie supporter said he had been called 5 times in one day and if he got called again, he would vote for Hillary.
So I marked him as "Do not call" and really hope the phonebanking system takes it seriously!
Only 2 Hillary supporters. Of course, there were quite a few who said "not interested" or hung up as soon as I identified myself as a volunteer for the Bernie Sanders campaign.
Glad I did it, but thinking about calling a different state tomorrow since it appears NY phones are being blown up.

(7,321 posts)the voters already on board for Bernie were great fun.
One of them moved from a different neighborhood, so after looking up his polling place associated with his address, turns out it's in the same building!
LOL. How convenient is that? I asked if he would be persuaded to knock on a few of his neighbors doors to urge them to vote for Bernie, and after a moment's hesitation he said he'd be happy to.
But I did get a registered Democrat firmly voting for Trump! I guess even HRC wasn't right wing enough for him. Ok, then thank you.
But there were a number of people complaining they'd been getting called all day and enough already!
One Bernie supporter was out at sea, and was not going to be home to vote, but he said he'd call his family to make sure they do!
Did you check out the interactive map? that was cool.

(13,384 posts)But i did make it to meeting for a Bernfest we are doing next weekend and labor temple we use for phone banking was busy with lots calling.
One lady said she got cussed at, but understood New yorkers can be very blunt.

(7,321 posts)one voter taking a call very polite, patient to the point of introduction, but wanted to what's this about in a word. LOL.
Coughs are a big drag, hope it's not a hanger on-er..

(33,745 posts)New York minute is a common expression meaning an "instant" or a "flash",[1] i.e., an extremely short time, defined by the fast pace characterizing New York City

(39,451 posts)was telling the people that Bernie beats Trump by a higher percentage than Hillary.
The people I talked to loved that.

(7,321 posts)as a group,we came up with a percentage of about quarter of the responses. Don't have any idea which districts, we didn't make note of that info.
The remaining responses came to about 50-50 between Clinton and Bernie, a very small number of "other". I had a few "moved" , one responder was "out to sea" I didn't ask if he was military, but he was a strong Bernie supporter with family back home.. all gonna vote Bernie.

(2,479 posts)I got a number of very nice and up-beat Bernie supporters, that was nice, confirmed their polling location, feel like I motivated them to actually get out!
I did get a lot of hang-ups before even saying hello, moved, answering machine and so on. But I took that as a good sign: if I'm maybe getting the 'dregs' of the list, that would mean the most important calls are already covered!
When everybody pitches in, it can work really well, I think!

(7,321 posts)Mostly moved, one was "away at College" I wanted to ask but didn't just said "thank you" and moved on.
This computerized dialer thing is kind of tricky to get used to at first. I'm more used to "old school" phone banking at an office with landlines. LOL!

(2,479 posts)I'm getting used to it, it's not too bad. Certainly saves a lot of tedious steps!
I got a lot of moved, too.

(2,353 posts)According to Claire Sandberg we all made 1.3 million GOTV calls to NEW YORK!
If we do that again that means we will make 2.6 million GOTV calls this weekend.
I knew it was YUUUGE but I didn't know it was that many!
