Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThank you Bernie for making California matter
Far too often California is disenfranchised and doesn't even get to vote in primaries, and in GEs they try to call it before the end of the work day to suppress the vote here.
They have been trying to tell us that our votes don't matter, that our voices shouldn't be heard. Ever since Clinton's big win in Iowa we've been told that the race is done. We have 700 delegates that only Bernie is honoring. Everywhere I have traveled has Bernie signs. He understands that we are far too often disrespected by the establishment.
Where California goes, the nation follows.

(1,701 posts)I live in Oregon, and I also have long been frustrated by the fact that the west coast seldom has any influence on the elections. It is worse for California; it is absurd that a state that size should be shut out of the process and it angers me. So California, please come through for Bernie. The rest of us need you!

(15,139 posts)suburb full of professional types. I see Bernie bumper stickers everywhere. I have seen exactly one sticker referencing Hillary, and it read "Hillary for prison," so I assume that person isn't a fan. I predict Bernie will win California, and it will be a huge embarrassment for Hillary at the end of the primary season.
In California, Democrats and non-affiliated voters who can vote in the Democratic Primary are not going to vote same old same old. Bernie all the way.

(7,886 posts)is the deep red streak. I've seen next to none Clinton stickers, but a fair amount of Trump/Carson stickers (not that Carson is around, but I don't think those guys will be going for Clinton now) There was a post about the American Independents and how a lot of people accidentally register for them, thinking they are't choosing a party. People were laughing about it, calling potential Democratic voters stupid, really great way to unite they party.

(15,139 posts)sort of flame symbol, which I assume represents evangelical Christianity. Cruz is actually going nowhere fast out here. Voters in this state are not going to vote for an evangelical whack job from Texas. Trump, however, is another animal. Voters in CA are fickle. And they love celebrity. They voted Reagan. They turned out Gray Davis in favor of Schwarzenegger. I think Trump might actually do well here. Probably not as much of a threat to Bernie as to Hillary though. It will be an interesting fall.

(7,886 posts)They are terrified of our delegate count that absolutely dwarfs any other block.

(4,775 posts)It's a huge state so hard to have any intuitive feel for it. My area is far more progressive than most. And even here, I suspect the Bernie supporters are more passionate and tend to sticker up, whereas the Hillary people are generally less into the whole thing.
But mainly I'd like the chance for Bernie to compete here, and we can make sure his ideas are heard and build something for the future if not for 2016.
The corporate wing of the party has nothing to offer us except they say they are not Republicans, and I'm not always certain they are even being honest about that.
There are serious issues that need to be dealt with ASAP, and not by someone who owes huge favors to the industries that are causing the problems. So yeah, absolutely it will be great if we get to hold a real primary here.
