Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThey have to get that they're coming across as insufferable.
They have to know how that's being perceived, not only by the dreaded Berniebros.
They have to understand that's making "party unity" that much harder to achieve.
I can only conclude that they don't care.

(8,352 posts)In their apparent arrogance they believe she is inevitable and that pesky voters like us simply are not needed to win the GE.

(141,926 posts)in the same way that many Sanders supporters don't get that there are insufferable people among their midst.
It's 'US vs THEM,' and as it always does, it's messing everything up; human nature does that.
if they're so insensitive as to support HRC in the first place, they're not likely to be sensitive enough to devise a party-loyalty strategy. It takes a special kind of insensitivity to support a candidate who played such a prominent role in bringing about the violence in Honduras, violence in the Middle East, and elsewhere.
Anyway, it's not gonna' happen. Just my prediction, of course.
On our NPR station, they interviewed Bernie supporters with the hypothetical question of who they'd support if Bernie doesn't win. The answers were pretty amazing. Nobody said Hillary. Most people said they'd vote for Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate.

(465 posts)I think a lot of her voters pine for the Clinton years, back when they had a good job, not realizing her hubby helped ship those jobs overseas by signing NAFTA.

(5,012 posts)sometimes we attribute consequences to the wrong president.
We assume the consequences are immediate hence, Bill did nothing wrong.
Often, what a president does is not visible immediately and therein lies the rub.
Obama gets blamed for stuff that started years before he became president, but that doesn't stop the electorate from believing it. And the MSM doesn't do their job in reporting facts and tieing them to history.

(19,926 posts)They think that we will crawl to them happy for any crumbs they give us. They don't get that crumbs simply are not enough anymore. We have seen - because Bernie has proven it to us - that we do not need to be beholden to corporate money. We have seen that there are millions of people who believe we can fix this democracy. People who understand that you simply cannot fix it if you take corporate money. Because the first thing that has to happen is to get money out of politics.
They don't get that this isn't about Bernie, it's about a movement. They don't get that Bernie supporters are in for the movement, we aren't idolizing Bernie. We will never give up because it's about more than Bernie. They don't get that Bernie is not running because he dreams of being president but because he dreams of fixing this country and he will not give up.
They simply do not get that they are the antiquated bunch that are on the wrong side of history. And with their selfishness of not supporting the candidate who is the real progressive, the real liberal, the real fighter for equality for EVERYONE and the candidate that the youth supports, they are stealing the youth's future from them. The policies that Clinton will enact have already tried and failed. She is not going to try for what we need, she already told us we can't have it. Why would anyone put their future in her hands? Why would anyone rob the youth of their dreams of a better life?

(3,366 posts)I love the arrogant, smug, smirky, snotty Hillary. I can't wait to see her attitude pitted against Trump's. Who will be most insufferable?
Let all the poison that lurks in the mud, hatch out.

(26,549 posts)Their overriding drive is hippy punching.
So they are doing it now, and when Clinton turns out to be the lousy candidate she really is, they will get to punch a lot more hippies in November.
Policy? Good government? Not nearly as important as punching hippies.

(23,272 posts)It's very ugly. I honestly believe they think they don't need independents or Bernie supporters. They're burning every single bridge with tremendous zeal.
So yup, if they don't need us, it makes it that much easier to walk away.
