Sanders to Democratic Party: Whose Side are We On?

I don't recall seeing this but certainly could have missed it.

Sanders to Democratic Party: Whose Side are We On?
APRIL 28, 2016

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Saying that “our job is to revitalize American democracy,” U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday challenged the Democratic Party establishment to decide if it will fight for working families or do the bidding of Wall Street, big oil, the pharmaceutical industry and other special interests.

“Are we on the side of working people or big-money interests? Do we stand with the elderly, the sick and the poor or do we stand with Wall Street speculators and the insurance companies?” the Democratic Party presidential candidate asked 8,300 supporters at an outdoor rally at Island Park.

He said a key reason why 63 percent of voters did not go to the polls in the last election and nearly 80 percent of young and low-income people stayed home is that “the Democratic Party, up until now, has not been clear on which side they are on on the major issues facing this country.”

On issue after issue, Sanders challenged the Democratic Party to pick sides. “You can’t be for Wall Street and the working people of this country. You cannot be for the drug companies and senior citizens and veterans,” he said. “You cannot be on the side of workers and support those corporations that have thrown millions on the street.”

And it's not the people's side any more.

The Dem leadership needs to dump the DLC/Third Way crap if they want the party to survive. The people cannot survive a two party system in which both parties toe the corporate line.

I feel bad for future generations that will have to live under global corporate rule if Bernie isn't our president. And no, this is not hyperbole. The TPP and its sister trade agreements will seal the deal and we know who will and will not sign that into law given the opportunity.

The current Dem leadership IS DLC/Turd Way...they are on as much of a suicide mission as another party is...they are the Elites and want to be the Entrenched forever, so they aren't going to do shit, even if it means death.

So what is it that Bernie is wrong about? We see the Elites killing the party...he sees the Elites killing the party...and?

“the Democratic Party, up until now, has not been clear on which side they are on on the major issues facing this country.”

I think they have been clear. That's why the youth doesn't gravitate towards them, they see them as another branch of the establishment. There's now two establishment parties serving the corporations instead of the people. The youth are more open to the social justice issues, it's not as big a deal to them at a time when same sex marriage is being legalized and transgender persons are voted homecoming queens. So giving them scraps to keep them satisfied enough to keep voting against their own economic interests isn't going to work anymore. Especially when it's the economic situation that is giving them the biggest hurdles these days. To be in so much debt just to get a college degree is insane. Why would they gravitate to the Dem Party at this time?

We really do need a third party that is on the left. I hope Bernie's run brings that about. We can't go on with a two party system that no longer represents the citizens.

This is Hillary's biggest flaw.
She gave dozens of speeches to the Wall Street bankers behind closed doors, but then she parades out in public claiming she is for the working class.

#WhichHillary can't have it both ways.

That is why Oregon will be Bernie country.
She doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell in Oregon.
